Paneer Paturi: A Flavorful Bengali Delight

Ingredients

  • Paneer: 200g (cut into rectangles)
  • Mustard seeds: 2 tbsp (yellow & black, soaked)
  • Poppy seeds: 1 tbsp (optional, soaked)
  • Green chilies: 4-5
  • Grated coconut: 2 tbsp
  • Mustard oil: 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder: ½ tsp
  • Salt: To taste
  • Banana leaves: 2-3 (roasted for wrapping)

Instructions

  • Make Mustard Paste: Blend mustard seeds, poppy seeds, coconut, chilies, salt & water.
  • Marinate Paneer: Mix paste with turmeric, salt & oil. Coat paneer & marinate for 15 mins.
  • Wrap: Place the paneer on the roasted banana leaf, add a chili, fold into a parcel & secure.
  • Cook: Steam for 15 mins or pan-cook on low heat with oil till leaves char slightly.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot with steamed rice!
